OutBack Critters

Welcome!

There is no secret so close as that between a rider and his horse.

Meadowridges Nakota Wind - AMHR

2005 - Suring, Wi. parade - me and Nakota                June 12, 2008

Nakota is a 29.7" gray and white stallion. He is our farm mascot and has the run of the place around here. Nakota loves to show off his stuff in parades and as of 2008, has started making a different type of road trip - to visit with his human friends. Check out  "Outback Therapy Visits" to learn more~

Shadow

We have had Shadow since he was pre-teen. He is twenty four this year. When we bought him - he was a horse that was rode hard and didnt even seem to know what a "walk." was. I saw the potential in him emediatly and we brought him home that day. Our pony boy ( as I call him - he is only 14 hands ) is the best little horse ever. Over the years he has become a "been there, done that" horse. The first time I rode him in our local parade - he practally slept through it - but we wouldnt have wanted him any other way! Shadow was retired last year, no more long trail rides for him. He has served us well, and now is his time to relax..A short ride on occasion possibly, but nothing more.

Malibu

Malibu - has a some what sketchy past, as Mary - president of St. Francis Horse Rescue and Retirement Farm, in Rosholt, Wi. , so fluently put it. ( Their link can be found on my links page. ) Mary and her husband were "deposited" with Malibu, who at the time had a eye in need of major treatment. With funds donated to their rescue they were able to have his eye surgically removed and a prosthetic one put in. To see him it just appears as though his eye is closed. Any way, this boy is beautiful, big and gentle. He has defiantly ajusted to having only one eye, it doesn't seem to bother him a bit. Malibu is about nine now. Last year I got in some good rides with him. He does every thing I ask of him. - including - being the first in line - to walk over noisy wooden bridges on the trail, has'nt batted an eye at avts, motorcycles, bycycles or unattended dogs,  gets along well with strange horses, and has'nt spooked at fox or turkeys on the trail. He is much more in tune to the goings on around him, then horses with two eyes... He is always the first to see intruders entering our property, weather it be deer, strange dogs or cats, or even a chipmunk! All we have to do is look out our back window to see where Malibu is looking - to know what is going on. We are just thrilled with this boy!

NOTE:  I seriously recommend anyone who is looking to adopt a horse, donkey, pony or mini - to check out Mary and Bill's website. ( Listed on my links page. ) Mary and her husband are wonderful honest folks and always have horses up for adoption. They also take in the older retire-ee's and give them a perminent for-ever home. Check them out - even if you dont find your next horse - you will undoubtably make great new friends!

UPDATE: Malabu visited his first Nursing Home on 9-6-08 and was a good boy!

Me and Malibu, 2008                        September 9th, 2008. Malibu showing off his newly learned trick!

Tequila

When I bought this mare, she was five and a couple of day's shy of going to auction... she had already been passed through half a dozen homes and why - I have no clue. She is an exelent trail horse and has turned out to be another "been there, done that" horse for us. Tequilla is about nine now. She is registered, and is a beautiful, blue - pinta-loosa. In my book this mare has it all~ pictured here with my stepdaughter and then my husband.
